 Post subject: Clock- / dataenabled?

How these pins work?? i have modified tait classic programmer witch need a "programmer select" signal. examble when lpt port pin 1 go up pic programmer is use and if sound chip programmer is in use pin 1 go down. is it possible make PICpgm driving that funktion??

The "Clock Enable" and "Data Enable" signals are used to enable clock and data signals for programmers which use a tri-state buffer (e.g. 74xx244 as in the AN589 programmer).
I.e. after programming the "Clock Enable" and "Data Enable" are disabled so that the clock and data signal are no longer connected to the target after programming (i.e. clock and data are set to high-Z state).

So if you want to see on a pin whether the programmer is active or not you could use the "Clock Enable" signal. It will be set during programming operation and reset after programming.

"Data Enable" cannot be used since it will toggle during normal operation, e.g. during reading from the target (PIC) it will go to low so that the Data Out signal does not influence the Data In signal.
