Hi christian,
:)

I have gone through almost all forum and solutions i found on other webs.
I am struggling since last 2 week to solve this problem

what is that exactly mean...

Is my Hardware OK or not?

D2XX drivers are installed even though same error occurs

Yes I'm using Windows Vista so according to troubleshooting guide ...

I have gone through "Run As Administrator" things even while installing Drivers i used "Run As Administrator".

One more thing to say is that am trying to program PIC16F720 and according to "supported PICs table" it should be work with PICPgm USB Programmer

But i haven't found a single document which mention that PIC16F720 can be programmed in LVP mode(< 8 volts).

responce of "list connected FTDI USb devices " was like ...

I guess it should be detected as "USB to FIFO"

Today i found "picpgm_usb_high_voltage.png" in post
http://www.picprojects.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11807&sid=7b96046d04c636e17f7cc8b3009e5e87

I will try it today ... but still advantage of using single USB device is not happening :(
please help me on this..
now i am really going to be mad.

Hi,

the "Unable to open parallel port I/O driver" warning just tells that PICPgm was unable to install the parallel port driver.
This happens if you have not selected a programmer. In this case PICPgm checks all ports if it finds any programmer connected. Since it also wants to check for parallel port programmers, but it is unable ot install the driver, PICPgm outputs this information.

But. since you want to use the USB PIC programmer, you can just ignore this message, so do not bother about that. You can select the PICPgm USB programmer in the hardware menu instead of autodetecting the programmer.

Anyway, PICPgm had no problems to detect you programmer. So here you have no problem.
The problem is, that the PIC16F720 does not support high voltage programming! So you need to drive the MCLR pin with the 8.0-9.0V as per the programming specification. The original design of the PICPgm USB programmer is just a "Low Voltage Programmer", hence without modifications this will not work.

So you need to do the modification as per the post you already found:

Christian
